• Must be at least 18 years of age, or 17 years of age with a cosigner.
  • Enrolled full-time in an eligible field of study at an Eligible School.
  • A citizen of an eligible country on the African continent.
  • In possession of a valid passport from the country of your citizenship.
  • Able to provide two reputation references (do not have to be residing in the U.S.).
  • In the absence of a U.S. credit score, an alternative risk score will be used to evaluate the creditworthiness of the applicant.  This alternative risk score takes into account the borrower’s G.P.A., credits completed vs. attempted, degree seeking, and other factors.
  • No credit derogatories (i.e. no prior student loan defaults, delinquencies, bankruptcies, or foreclosures).
  • An average ending cash balance of $2,500 USD or more.  If the borrower is unable to meet this requirement, then the borrower can apply with a cosigner who meets a minimum assets requirement (see Cosigner Eligibility Criteria).
